The pictures are wonderfull and full of life. Each page is inspiring, and so beautiful.

And although I’ve read the Harry Potter series a number of times, and tend to notice which elements of myth and fairytale Rowling draws on, it wasn’t until reading Froud and Lee’s description of Brownies being insulted by the gift of clothes, that I made the connection between Brownies and House Elves furthermore I was a Brownie Guide when I was about seven! I’m not saying his later work is bad mind you, just much more polished. More than just a reissue, this deluxe revised and updated edition also contains essays from both Froud and Lee on the influence of Faeries and an introduction by a name author in the Faerie community.
I bought this book for my wife some years ago.
Some are sharp toothed and clawed monsters that come creeping out of the shadows and muck to drag the unsuspecting to their doom. Not sure about this one, I borrowed it. This is an amazingly descriptive, beautifully illustrated book.
I have been in love with Brian Froud from his collaboration with Alan Lee. I didn’t realize until very recently that Alan Lee worked on this book as well. If you already have the previous editions, there’s probably not much reason to get this book as the main content is still the same – unless you want the art prints. It is unclear exactly who this book is aimed at, as its analysis and discussion of fey creatures is both too detailed for the casual reader and far too lacking in grounding in alsn to appeal to those who have no belief in the legitimacy of the world discussed here or its mere existence.

Michael It’s not a story as such, Connie, rather a series of short tales and information about different faery beings. It should be noted that while I was impressed at the hrian of the authors and the depths they were willing to go in order to uncover information about various obscure as well as more familiar creatures of the fey world, there was much I found disturbing about this work that many potential readers would do well to note.
